Today was another one of our free days :) We spent the morning at an orphanage in Kimana playing with the kids. The orphange is home to 20 children and has no funding. The couple that runs the orphange makes money with a tailoring shop and from a few dairy cows that they own, but relies mostly on donations and deals on food and clothing from the community. It was a fun morning and nice to take time off from the classroom to play soccer and "net ball" (basketball) with the kids. Our free day continued with a visit to the market where I finally found myself a pair of tire shoes! They were only 250 shillings (~$3) and are made completed out of old tires - they even adjust them when you buy them so that they fit your feet just right! We finished our day at "Club-Kimana" where we all shared some Tusker Beer and roasted goat leg. Sounds like an odd combination but it was delicious! Tusker is an East African Brew that stands for Tanzania, Uganda, Somalia, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Rwanda.
